The Jackson-Milton Blue Jays improved to 3-0 for the year, defeating Windham 47-0. The Jays’ passing attack was led by quarterback Jack McDevitt, who completed 4 passes for 82 yards and 2 touchdowns. Zach Johnson led the Blue Jays with 32 receiving yards. Johnson also scored 2 touchdowns, one receiving and one rushing. Leo Hines also had a receiving touchdown, and 30 receiving yards. DJ Osborne led the Jays with 96 yards rushing and 2 TDs on the ground. Eli Handrych added 77 rushing yards for the Blue Jays. McDevitt also contributed 31 yards on the ground. The Jackson-Milton offensive line controlled the line of scrimmage throughout the game, allowing the Blue Jays’ offense to put together many long drives. On defense, Carter Headley led the Blue Jays with 7 total tackles, 1 TFL and 2 sacks. Jack McDevitt tallied 5 total tackles and intercepted the Windham quarterback. Leo Hines recorded 2 interceptions, one of which he returned for a Jackson-Milton touchdown. The Blue Jays added another defensive touchdown when Raiden Rossi sacked the quarterback, causing a fumble that Nick Bulow scooped up and returned for a score. The defensive line controlled the line of scrimmage throughout the game, and the secondary did not allow many yards through the air, holding the Windham offense to minimal gains all evening. As a unit, the Blue Jays’ defense recorded their first shutout of the year. The Jackson-Milton Blue Jays travel to Mineral Ridge for a 7:00 kickoff on Friday, September 12th.
